To kick start our project we need to go through various consultation phases. We had a project launch a couple of years ago and since then we have been awaiting the green light on the construction of the proposed Energy from Waste Plant to be built on the site of the former paper mill near Inverurie. That project is very near to starting, and we wish now to kick start the consultation phase with the Community. But we need your help to get some seed cash!

Our carbon negative District Heating Project – Garioch District Heat is in the running to receive a share of £500,000 from the Just Transition Participatory Budgeting Fund – but we need your vote to help us achieve this. We only need £4,500 to get started.
Our project is not-for-profit, community-owned for community benefit and will bring clean, safe affordable heating to up to 10,000 homes and businesses in the Garioch area, as we all have to transition away from single-use fossil fuel boilers
Think global – Act local to save money on your heating bills and significantly reduce your carbon footprint without having to radically change your lifestyle.

Please note – you will be required to vote for 5 out of 29 listed projects. Ours – Garioch District Heat – is the first on the list and also one of the lowest grant bids. The more modest bids that win, the more projects that will benefit.
You have to live in the Grampian area to vote i.e. in either Aberdeenshire, Aberdeen City or Moray.
Last year we lost out by only 75 votes, so every vote counts. Kids of 5years and over can vote. Project benefits are for our children’s future.

Please vote and share it on social media and with your family, friends, neighbours and work colleagues. You can make a huge difference.

Voting closes on 13th October 2023 – here’s that link again.
